Privacy Policy

Introduction

AI PromptShot ("PromptShot", "we", "us") is a free tool for turning AI prompts into shareable screenshot images. This Privacy Policy describes how the current version of PromptShot handles information. It reflects how the product actually works today, not planned or hypothetical future features.

Information We Collect

The prompt text, platform, theme, and size you choose in the editor are held in your browser's memory while you use the page. Editing, previewing, downloading a PNG, copying an image, and creating a share link all happen on your device. None of them send your prompt to us.

Nothing is sent to us automatically. Data reaches us only when you click a button that says it will:

• Save PromptShot — stores that one PromptShot on our servers, privately. Nothing else in the editor does this, and nothing does it automatically.
• Creating a Collection or a Creator profile — stores the title, description, display name, or other details you enter for it, privately. See "Collections" and "Creator Profiles" below.
• Publish, Unpublish, Delete, and edits to a Collection or profile — change or remove something you have already saved or created. Only Publish makes anything public; saving and creating never do.

If you never click Save, we never receive your prompt.

Loading any web page still involves ordinary web infrastructure — your browser, network, and hosting provider may process standard technical information (such as IP address and request logs) simply to deliver the page to you. That happens outside PromptShot's control, as it does for any website, and is not something PromptShot itself collects or stores.

Information We Do Not Store

PromptShot does not currently have:

• A user account or login system
• Prompt history tied to you, your email, or any identifier
• Automatic storage of anything you type
• Any record of prompts you edited, exported, or shared by link but never saved
• Your name, email address, or IP address attached to a saved PromptShot

A saved PromptShot is not linked to a person. We store the PromptShot itself and nothing about who created it. If you link it to a Creator profile, we store that link too, along with the display name you chose for the profile.

If any of this changes in a future version of PromptShot, this policy will be updated before that functionality goes live.

How PromptShot Processes Prompts

When you type or paste a prompt into PromptShot, that text is rendered directly in your browser to build the preview you see on screen. There is no AI processing involved — PromptShot does not send your prompt to any AI model, and it does not analyze, rewrite, or evaluate the content of your prompt in any way. It simply formats the text you provide into a styled image.

Generating the image (PNG) also happens entirely in your browser, using its own rendering capabilities. That is true whether you download the image, copy it, or save it — there is no server-side image generation, and Download PNG and Copy Image upload nothing.

Saving and Publishing

When you click Save PromptShot, we store the prompt text, the platform, theme, size, template, and branding setting you chose, plus the PNG your browser rendered. We also record when it was saved. We do not store your IP address, your name, or anything else that identifies you.

A saved PromptShot is private. It has no public web address. It cannot be viewed by anyone visiting the site, it is not listed anywhere, and it does not appear in search engines. Only clicking Publish changes that.

When you click Publish, that one PromptShot gets a public page at aipromptshot.com/p/…. Anyone with that link can read the prompt and see the image, so treat publishing the same way you would treat posting the prompt text publicly. Published pages are marked noindex, which asks search engines not to list them, but a link you have shared is still a link anyone can pass on.

You can make a published PromptShot private again (Unpublish), or delete it permanently (Delete), from the same browser you used to save or publish it. You do not need an account to do this — see "Edit Access" below for how we know it is you. If you no longer have that browser, email us at contact@aipromptshot.com.

Unpublishing takes the public page down immediately; it does not delete the PromptShot, which stays available privately. Deleting removes the PromptShot entirely — its stored data and its image — and cannot be undone.

Once a PromptShot is published, the AI PromptShot team may choose to feature it on the Explore page, which is a public, hand-picked selection. This is a manual editorial choice, it only ever applies to PromptShots that are already published, and un-publishing a PromptShot removes it from Explore. Private PromptShots are never eligible. The same applies to published Collections and Creator profiles.

We do not log the contents of prompts. Saving writes a PromptShot to storage; it does not write your prompt into a log file.

Collections

A Collection is an ordered list of your PromptShots — for example, "My Best Claude Coding Prompts." Creating a Collection is a separate, explicit action, just like saving a PromptShot: it does not happen automatically, and it stores the title and description you gave it, plus which PromptShots you have added and in what order.

A new Collection is private, the same as a newly saved PromptShot. It has no public page until you explicitly click Publish on it — creating a Collection never publishes it, and adding a PromptShot to a Collection never publishes that PromptShot either.

When you publish a Collection, it gets a public page at aipromptshot.com/c/…, marked noindex the same way a published PromptShot's page is. That public page only ever shows the PromptShots in the Collection that are themselves published — a private PromptShot you added to a Collection stays private, and adding it to a public Collection does not change that.

You can unpublish or delete a Collection the same way you manage a PromptShot — see "Edit Access" below. Deleting a Collection removes only the Collection and its list of members; it never deletes any PromptShot that was in it.

Creator Profiles

A Creator profile is an optional public page that gathers your published PromptShots and Collections in one place. Creating a profile is a separate, explicit action, exactly like saving a PromptShot: it never happens automatically, and there is no account, username, login, email, or verification involved.

When you create a profile, we store the display name you chose, an optional bio, an optional website link, its visibility, timestamps, a one-way hash of its edit token, and the list of PromptShots and Collections you have linked to it and in what order. We do not store your email, your IP address as profile data, a device identifier, any analytics identifier, a password, or the raw edit token.

A new profile is private. It has no public page until you explicitly click Publish on it. Linking a PromptShot or a Collection to a profile is always an explicit action you take, and it requires proof that you can manage both the profile and the object being linked — a profile cannot pull in something you do not control. A published profile page at aipromptshot.com/u/… is marked noindex, the same as a published PromptShot or Collection, and only ever shows PromptShots and Collections that are themselves published.

Publishing, unpublishing, and deleting a profile are all separate explicit actions. Deleting a profile removes only the profile and its list of links; it never deletes any PromptShot or Collection that was linked to it.

Edit Access

When you save a PromptShot, create a Collection, or create a Creator profile, our server creates a one-time secret ("edit token") and your browser stores it in your browser's local storage, tied to that object's id. That local copy is what lets you publish, unpublish, update, or delete it later — including after closing the tab or reloading the page — without an account or a login.

This edit token stays on your device. We store only a one-way hash of it, not the token itself, so we cannot recover it from our servers, and it is never included in a URL, a share link, or a page's visible content.

Because it lives in your browser's local storage, clearing your browser data, using a different browser or device, or using private/incognito mode will lose that management access. The PromptShot, Collection, or profile itself is not affected — it stays exactly as it was — but you would need to contact us to change or remove it.

Share Links and Privacy

PromptShot's share links work by encoding your prompt, platform, theme, and size directly into the URL itself — there is no server-side storage behind a share link, and no ID that points to data held somewhere else. The link is the data.

This means anyone who receives a share link can decode it and see the prompt contained inside — including services that may log or preview URLs, such as chat apps, browser history, or link-preview bots. Please avoid putting confidential, personal, proprietary, or otherwise sensitive information into a prompt before generating a share link. If you want to share the visual without exposing editable prompt text, use PNG download or Copy Image instead.

On this site, a share link keeps the prompt in the part of the address after the "#" sign. Browsers do not send that part to our servers, and the analytics services described below leave it out of the page address they report. Google AdSense, the advertising service, would include it in its ad requests, so a page opened from a share link does not request ads, and the page stops requesting ads once you create a share link.

Older share links carried the prompt after a "?" instead. They still work: when one is opened, the page moves the prompt behind the "#" before the analytics and advertising scripts load. Opening an older link still sends its full address, prompt included, to our host, Cloudflare, as part of the page request.

Cookies and Tracking

PromptShot does not run fingerprinting scripts of its own, and it does not sell your prompts or the PromptShots you save. The site does show advertising from Google, which may use cookies and similar technologies — see "Advertising" below.

The site also loads two third-party measurement scripts, described in the next section. These count visits and page views. PromptShot does not send them what you type in the editor, and share links keep the prompt out of the page address they report — see "Share Links and Privacy" above.

PromptShot stores two kinds of things in your browser's local storage: whether you chose the light or dark site theme, and — only if you save a PromptShot, create a Collection, or create a Creator profile — an entry holding its id and the edit token described in "Edit Access" above, plus a Collection's title or a profile's display name so My Prompts can list it. All of it stays on your device; none of it is sent to us automatically.

Third-Party Services

PromptShot uses the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics — measures page views and general site usage. Google may set cookies to do this. See Google's privacy policy.
• Ahrefs Analytics — measures traffic and referrals. See Ahrefs' privacy policy.
• Google AdSense — shows advertising on the site. Google and its partners may set cookies to do this. See "Advertising" below.
• Cloudflare — hosts the site and stores saved PromptShots. Like any host, it processes standard technical information such as IP addresses and request logs in order to deliver the page.

PromptShot does not send your prompt text to the analytics or advertising services. Share links are built to keep it out of the page addresses those services receive, as described above.

Advertising

PromptShot is free to use and is supported by advertising. Ads on the site are served by Google AdSense, and Google decides where on a page they appear.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites, to limit how often you see an ad, to measure ad performance, and to detect fraud and abuse. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Depending on your choices and the settings that apply where you are, the ads you see may be personalized or non-personalized.

What Google collects and how it uses that information is explained in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in Google's privacy policy.

You can turn off personalized advertising from Google in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Where the law requires consent for advertising cookies or for personalized ads — for example, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland — ads that rely on them need your consent. If you are shown a consent message, ads are served according to the choices you make in it.

Browser Storage / Clipboard

PromptShot uses your browser's local storage only for the two things described in "Cookies and Tracking" above: your light/dark theme choice and, for each PromptShot, Collection, or Creator profile you saved or created in this browser, its id and edit token, plus a Collection's title or a profile's display name. Clipboard features, such as Copy Image or Copy Share Link, use standard browser clipboard APIs where your browser supports them; where a browser doesn't support a given clipboard operation, PromptShot tells you rather than failing silently. None of this is sent to us automatically; an edit token is sent only when you use it to publish, unpublish, update, or delete something.

Data Security

Prompts you never save are never sent to us, so there is nothing about them to secure. PromptShots and Collections you do save are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Private ones are not reachable from the web: there is no address that serves them and no way to list them. Images are held in private storage with no public URL of their own, and a published PromptShot's image is served through the site rather than from a public bucket.

The site is served over HTTPS. Saving, publishing, unpublishing, updating, and deleting — for PromptShots, Collections, and Creator profiles — are all rate-limited to make bulk abuse impractical. Publishing, unpublishing, updating, and deleting all require the edit token described in "Edit Access" above — we store only a hash of it, so a copy of our database cannot be used to manage anyone's PromptShot, Collection, or profile. Adding a PromptShot to a Collection, or linking a PromptShot or Collection to a Creator profile, requires proof of access to both sides, so neither can pull in an object it does not have permission for.

Children's Privacy

PromptShot does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. It has no accounts and asks for no personal details, and the only content it stores is what someone explicitly chose to save or create: a PromptShot, a Collection, or a Creator profile. PromptShot is not directed at children and should be used in accordance with the terms of the underlying AI platforms referenced in your prompts.

PromptShot may link to external sites, such as AI platforms or documentation. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites. Please review their own privacy policies before sharing information with them.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This page describes what PromptShot does today: saved PromptShots, Collections, and Creator profiles are stored on our servers, publishing is a separate deliberate action that you can undo by unpublishing or deleting, and the site loads the two measurement scripts and the advertising script named above. If that changes — for example, if we introduce accounts or automated content moderation — this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe the new behavior before it is released. Check back here periodically for updates.
